The Phillies starting rotation has undergone many setbacks during this season. While it appeared that the Phillies would be ready to start the season with a rotation that included Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee, Aaron Harang, Jerome Williams, and David Buchanan, the Phillies have had to rely heavily on the likes of Sean O'Sullivan, Severino Gonzalez, Kevin Correia and now Adam Morgan. Now down Lee, Buchanan, and Williams, the Phillies may finally get some rotation relief in the near future.
The Phillies report that Chad Billingsley is ready to return to the team:
RHP Chad Billingsley will start on 7/2 vs. the Brewers. A corresponding move will be made on that date to accommodate him on the roster.

The roster move is probably Adam Morgan.
Morgan pitched very well in his one complete start and then in two innings erased by rain on Saturday. That would not be an indictment on Morgan at all; the Phillies probably will be able to use him again soon as they make some trades. Another name is also on the mend and can help in such a situation.
David Buchanan is starting to get results in his rehab:
David Buchanan went 5IP 5H 1ER 0BB 3K today rehabbing for GCL Phils today

Buchanan is probably due for an official rehab assignment.
Buchanan suffered a leg injury during a game in Lehigh Valley on May 18 and had to be carted off of the field. For the big league club, Buchanan went 0-5 with an 8.76 ERA in five starts. When ready, Buchanan probably would rejoin AAA Lehigh Valley and serve as insurance for the big club for when they begin trading pieces.
