Not a huge surprise but per John Clark 2014's Phillies Wall of Fame inductee is none other than Charlie Manuel. This is the second time that the Wall of Fame vote went to someone from the organization that was not voted in. Harry Kalas was elected posthumously in 2009.
Manuel told Clark,
“The years I spent in Philadelphia were some of the best of my professional career and I owe a lot of that to the fans. I have said this before, but they (Philly fans) are the best in the game.”
With 1000 career victories in MLB, Manuel obviously manned the dugout through some of the Phillies organization's most successful years including five straight divisional titles, two back to back trips to the World Series, and that great parade in 2008. They were the best of times for this life long Phillies fan and it's not only a deserved trip to the great wall but a day to commemorate a great era that the 2014 Phillies will try to add and exclamation point on this coming season.
