While the Philadelphia Phillies will honor their former perennial All-Star second baseman Chase Utley — along with Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins — next season with a separate, special retirement ceremony, it appears the the Pasadena, California, native already has the next stage of his career figured out.
Utley, who will turn 40 on Monday, is at the Winter Meetings in Las Vegas, working with the Los Angeles Dodgers in an "unofficial capacity," according to SportsNet LA's Alanna Rizzo. Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman said that Utley is not officially employed "yet," although he expects Utley to join his department "eventually."
I have visual confirmation of Chase Utley’s presence here at the Winter Meetings. This is the only shot I could get, but it’s my sister’s favorite angle anyway, so it works. pic.twitter.com/Z7iWON9id4
