It’s been 10 days since the Eagles fired Chip Kelly, ending a trying three-year coaching tenure that came crashing down in the 2015 season.
As the Eagles search for their next head coach, Kelly is available to the remaining six teams with coaching vacancies.
To this point, only one has shown enough interest to discuss and interview Kelly: the San Francisco 49ers.
Kelly officially interviewed with the 49ers on Thursday.
Kelly always seemed to be on the radar for San Francisco, but early reports were that he had contacted the team about the opportunity. Kelly insists he just wants to coach, but his past is certainly a problem for some teams. It was said that Kelly had barely received any opportunities to this point because of everything that happened in Philly and the lack of executive skills that Kelly possessed.
The former Eagles coach even made a visit to Alabama earlier this week, prompting rumors that he was interested in returning to the college game, which may still be the best fit for him.
It all remains to be seen, but after 10 days, the Eagles have already had four coaches interview for the head coaching position and two more on their radar, all before Kelly got a serious look.
