Chip Kelly not leaving Eagles to coach Titans, reunite with Mariota

During this season, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has already been linked to multiple college coaching jobs such as Maryland and USC.

On Tuesday, rumors surfaced about Kelly leaving the city of brotherly love to coach the Tennessee Titans, who just fired their head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

With the second overall pick of this year's NFL draft, the Titans selected quarterback Marcus Mariota, who Kelly believes would be the perfect fit in his up-tempo offense.

Mariota and Kelly have shared success at the University of Oregon. Mariota had a NCAA passer rating of 163.2 in 2012 with Kelly as the head coach. Oregon won the Fiesta Bowl that year over Kansas State by the score of 35-17.

The fact that the Titans have Mariota is enough to intrigue Kelly, who believes Mariota can win multiple Super Bowl titles.

Even if Kelly wanted to pack his bags and go to Nashville to coach his former quarterback, chances are that he wouldn't be able to.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie gave Kelly full control of team in the offseason. Kelly is under contract for the next two seasons, and is one of the highest paid coaches in the league. Lurie isn't going to just let Kelly go.
