By Paul Bowman, Sports Talk Philly Editor Chris Long Named Eagles Nominee for Walter Payton Man of the Year

The Eagles announced their nominee for the 2018 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award on Thursday.

Long captured headlines for donating his entire 2017 base salary of $1 million to charity. He also climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro for the third time this offseason to raise further funding.

His foundation, the Chris Long Foundation, focuses on four areas: getting access to clean water for all, helping to address homelessness, aiding the military and providing education and resources to youth in need. Further information on the foundation can be found on their website here.

Fans can help get Long additional money for his charity by tweeting using the hashtag #WPMOYChallengeLong using your public Twitter account between December 6, 2018 and January 13, 2019. This can also be done by retweeting the post below.

The rules on this, directly from NFL.com, are, “The nominee who receives the most hashtag mentions will win an additional $25,000 donation to his charity of choice from Nationwide, the runner-up will receive $10,000 and the third-place winner will receive $5,000.”

Long joins former Philadelphia Eagles tight end Trey Burton (Chicago Bears) and Penn State kicker Robbie Gould (San Francisco 49ers) as one of the 32 nominees around the league.
