The Phillies finally broke their scoreless streak last night as they romped the Reds 12-1 to also break their four-game losing streak. Led by Cole Hamels, who allowed one run through seven inning, the Phillies took the Reds to town offensively. Cole Hamels won his 100th career game in the effort and improved his lifetime record against the Reds to 9-0. This afternoon, Cliff Lee (3-4, 3.23 ERA) will look for his first win in five starts as he and the Phillies take on Tony Cingrani (2-2, 3.34 ERA) and the Reds.
Cliff Lee has not won a start in his last five outings, he's been on the bad end of some tough losses lately. The Phillies have lost the last three starts that Lee has made. Despite Lee posting a 3.10 ERA in 20 1/3 innings over that span. He has a 1.55 ERA at home but is 0-3. His last time out, a loss against the Angels, Lee allowed four unearned runs over sevevn innings of work. In Lee's career against Cincinnati, he is 6-2 with a 3.89 ERA in 85+ innings.
Tony Cingrani is coming off a DL stint that followed a no-decison against the Cubs back on April 30th. Cingrani landed on the DL with shoulder tendonitis after tossing four innings against the Cubs two weeks ago. Cingrani is looking to come off of the DL and give his team a win after his squad fell to the Phils yesterday 12-1. In one career start against Philadelphia, Cingrani has a 5.06 ERA against them.
