The results are in: the Phillies will be represented in the National League All-Star team by pitcher Cliff Lee and Domonic Brown.
Lee is one of the National's leagues four 10-game winners. Lee's ERA is 2.59 and tied for 10th in the league, and has a WAR of 4.4, third among starting pitchers. This is Lee's fourth All-Star appearance.
Brown is tied for second in the National League with 22 home runs. Brown is tied with the Pirates' Pedro Alvarez and behind the Colorado Rockies' Carlos Gonzalez, who has 23. Brown is fifth in RBI with 60. This is Brown's first All-Star appearance.
Jonathan Papelbon may have been included in the mix had he not had a terrible week from June 17-22. In five appearances, Papelbon blew four saves. Despite having 18 saves and a 1.87 ERA, that was enough to be edged by other candidates.
