Rookie left-hander Adam Morgan will get the ball for the Phillies tonight, looking to build off his his last outing against the Padres. He allowed two unearned runs in six innings and he hasn't walked a batter in 22 2/3 innings over his last four starts. In six starts during the month of August, Morgan allowed three or less runs four time and only walked four over 33 2/3 innings.
Meanwhile, Joe Kelly will oppose Morgan for the Red Sox. Kelly's ERA sunk from 6.11 to 4.94 in August, winning all six of his decisions and allowing more than two runs just once. The last Red Sox pitcher to go 6-0 in a month was none other than Pedro Martinez in May of 1999. Despite spending two plus years with the Cardinals, the 27-year-old right-hander has never faced the Phillies. Jeff Francoeur is the only Phillie with at-bats against Kelly, going 0-for-5 with a strikeout.
