The Philadelphia Phillies decided in December to part ways with 3B/OF Cody Asche. On Friday afternoon, the 26-year-old found a new home, signing a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox.

Asche became the Phillies every day third baseman in 2014, hitting .252 with 10 homers and 46 RBIs in his first full season. The emergence of Maikel Franco moved Asche out of the infield in 2015, a season that saw him spend more time in left field than anywhere else. Injuries hampered Asche's ability to develop much at all with the Phillies in the last year as he missed the first chunk of the 2016 season with an oblique injury. He ended up playing in 71 games, but only hit .213, spelling the end to his time in red pinstripes.
Although Asche may not have made a huge impact on the field, his work off the field deserves recognition. Asche and his wife, Angie, were key in the Phillies' efforts to strike out ALS during his time in Philadelphia. Cody and Anjie produced a t-shirt that was available in the Majectic Team Store that reads "Together We Fight" with all proceeds going to the Philadelphia ALS chapter.
In four seasons with the Phillies, Asche slashed .240/.298/.385.
