Claude Giroux scored in the Flyers last meeting with the Vancouver Canucks in 2011, a 5-4 Flyers win.
It has been a week since the Flyers made a coaching change and picked up their first win of the season. They also lost both games in back-to-back games over the weekend.
Following losses to the Western Conference's Phoenix Coyotes and former West foe Detroit Red Wings, another Western Conference team makes the trip to Philadelphia.
The Vancouver Canucks (3-3-0) enter Wells Fargo Center trying to keep the Flyers misery alive and well. The Flyers (1-5-0) are looking to attempt to right the ship on the season.
Two things to focus on are two of the new additions to the lineup from Saturday's loss. The two goals – matching the Flyers highest goal output this season – were scored by Erik Gustafsson and Tye McGinn.
Finally, Claude Giroux picked up his first point of the season, assisting on McGinn's goal. Still in search of his first point of the season is Matt Read and Kimmo Timonen.
The Flyers are also still without Scott Hartnell and Vincent Lecavalier due to injury.
The Canucks are coming off a 4-1 loss to Montreal on Saturday and like the Flyers have lost the last two games. This is just their third road game of the season.
Both teams have struggled to score. The Canucks have been outscored, 20-17, this season. Even worse, the Flyers have been vastly outscored, trailing in that race, 17-8.
On a positive note, the Flyers upped their shot total over the weekend. After firing nearly 70 shots on goal in the two weekend games, their average is up nearly four shots per game to 29. The Canucks allow an average of 31 per game.
Leading the way for the Canucks are forwards Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin, Mike Santorelli, Jannik Hansen and Ryan Kesler. Defensively, even Jason Garrison has a total of six points, including two goals.
Garrison is joined by Dan Hamhuis, Kevin Bieksa and Alexander Edler in a solid defensive core for the Canucks.
The Canucks are without winger Alexandre Burrows and center Jordan Schroeder due to injury.
In goal, Vancouver will likely go with Roberto Luongo. The Flyers will go back to Steve Mason in goal for tonight.
The Flyers last faced the Canucks in the home opener in 2011-12. The Flyers won the game, 5-4. All-time, the Flyers are 69-29-13-0 against the Canucks, including a 38-18-1-0 record in Philadelphia.
