Flyers center Sean Couturier is out for Monday night's game against the Rangers after not practicing with the team on Sunday or Monday. Prior to Monday's game, the team addressed his injury.

Couturier is day-to-day with an upper-body injury not related to a slash he took in last Tuesday's game against the Rangers. GM Ron Hextall said Couturier should be ready for the season opener.

Couturier has played in two games, the Flyers visit to Brooklyn against the Islanders last Monday and last Tuesday against the Rangers. He had one assist in the game against the Rangers.

Given the update, it seems likely that Couturier will not play in the Flyers remaining two preseason games on Wednesday and Friday against the Devils. The Flyers regular-season opener is next Thursday, Oct. 8, against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
