As the Philadelphia 76ers move further into the offseason, players begin to rest and recover from a grueling season. Robert Covington suffered an injury to the extensor tendon in the middle finger of his left hand at the end of December he recently had surgery to repair the issue.

During Covington's exit interview, he said that this injury was something he dealt with all year as he wore a splint while not playing. Widely criticized for his playoff performance, Covington had one of his best seasons yet, shooting a career-high 41.3% percent from the floor. His defensive rating of 99.0 was good for fifth in the NBA among players that played 40+ games this season, his net rating was ranked sixth and RoCo finished in a tie with Paul George with 3.9 deflections per game.
The Sixers signed Covington to an extension in November, a move also criticized by a number of fans despite its value. He's the 23rd highest paid small forward and 48th highest paid swingman. Solomon Hill, Iman Shumpert, Alec Burks and Allen Crabbe will all make more money than RoCo next season.
