A month ago I reported the possibility of heralded baseball reporter/analyst Seth Everett joining the Phillies' broadcast team.  It appears that he will indeed.

On Wednesday's edition of Daily News Live on Comcast Sportsnet, Gregg Murphy introduced Seth Everett as the new pre-and post-game host for the Phillies Radio Network.   Sounces close to the situation indicate that while that Murphy's introduction was not entirely accurate, Everett will indeed be part of of the broadcast.

Everett just began this past weekend hosting the 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday show on 610 WIP, and is the pre-, halftime, and post-game host for the New Jersey Nets on 660 WFAN in New York.

What could this mean for Jim Jackson?

After my initial report, Kevin Cooney of Calkins Media told me that Jim Jackson is indeed under contract for the 2012 season.  It looks as if he will continue to call innings on the radio with some hosting duties, and it would benefit the Phillies to have an extra broadcaster when the Flyers pull Jackson away from the Phillies.

The move, which has not been the subject of a Phillies press release just yet, just may take pressure off of Scott Franzke, who often had to call all nine innings and host the pre-and post-game shows when Jackson was absent.
