Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay is further solidifying his plans to retire after the 2025 NFL season.

The 12-year NFL veteran discussed his future plans on the St. Brown Podcast hosted by Detroit Lions’ wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and New Orleans Saints wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown. Big Play Slay stated he wants to retire after the 2025 season and would prefer to stay with Eagles, however if his time in Philadelphia were to come to an end, Slay would welcome a return to Detroit.

Slay is entering the final year of his contract in Philadelphia. The six-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl LIX champion is on the books for slightly over $10 million if he remains with the Eagles next season. That number balloons to nearly $13.2 million in dead cap space if he were to move on from the team. While it’s possible the Eagles find a way to move on from Slay at a reduced rate – GM Howie Roseman is a wizard, after all– it’s increasingly likely he will once again be part of the Eagles defensive back rotation in 2025.
