Former Phillies catcher checked in with Mike Missanelli on 97.5 the Fanatic today to give him an update on his health.   Daulton is pretty busy in addition to his chemotherapy treatments.  Daulton reported that he is recently engaged, is going to be making a few appearances in the area… and will be pushing medicinal marijuana use in Florida on the next ballot.

Here are the upcoming Daulton appearances:

Daulton is also engaged.   Daulton met his fiancee Amanada seven years ago while spending time golfing with none other than Pat Burrell.   Burrell and Daulton were playing golf together and their golf pro was a woman named Amanda.  It would be Amanda that will become his wife, seven years after meeting.

Of all the ways Daulton could propose, he proposed via text message in a different room of the house.  Daulton sent a text message to Amanda, asking the question and she responded with a text that is yes.

Daulton says that the chemotherapy treatments are going well and is looking towards legalization of medicinal marijuana to help patients such as himself.

Florida has a referendum on the ballot for the legalization of medicinal marijuana.  And he will be a spokesperson in his home state.

"Why wouldn't we try to do this?"

Daulton says he is seeing results from different people going through cancer treatments, speaking to doctors, and he will help promote it.

"I haven't smoked weed in years…and if I get this thing going I will do what's able to be done.  If it's something that is helping people and it's cancer and it's legit…"

As for the Phillies, Daulton has some concerns for the club going forward as players age and they have to make decisions on some of their older players, such as Roy Halladay.
