Deadline Sellers: Trading Juan Pierre

From minor league deals to deadline deals…

When the Phillies signed Juan Pierre, his value was pretty low. He signed a minor league deal, and was only guaranteed $800,000 when he won the 25th slot on the team. There was no guarantee he'd make it through the year.

There's still not.

The Phillies regular left-fielder has stayed over .300 all year, and now he's attracting attention on the trading block. To be fair, his market is pretty similar to Shane Victorino's. The Reds seem to lead it, with teams like the Pirates and Dodgers out there too.

With the Reds on top of this list, the Phillies scouted them this weekend. If I had to guess, fourth outfielder Chris Heisey is on top of the list, as is Drew Stubbs. Expect one of them, and a prospect outside the top five in their organization, but in the top 20. That seems kind of high, knowing what we know, but in this market, it's doable.
