The Phillies will finally be getting a key piece to their lineup back in the near future as Delmon Young is beginning his official rehab assignment. Young had been in Phillies extended Spring Training where he was able to play in game-like action, but not official games. Young will be able to play games for the Phillies' minor league affiliates now and face stiffer competition.
With the rehab clock ticking, we know Young will rejoin the team soon. A minor league assignment lasts for only 20 days. So, as Matt Gelb notes, he will join the team no later than May 11. It was unclear as to what level of minor league action Young would play.
