The Phillies are, once again, hosting the Phillies Phancation where fans get to take a week (or four day) long trip with people associated with the team. This year's trip was at a resort in Mexico after several years as a cruise. Players, both former and current, along with the Phillie Phanatic and some broadcast members have been a part of the unique experience. Names like Scott Palmer, Greg Luzinski, Tommy Greene, and Domonic Brown took part in this year's journey, nothing out of the ordinary. One notable name in attendance, though, was now former Phillie Erik Kratz.
Back on December 3rd, Kratz was a part of a trade that saw Brad Lincoln make his way to Philadelphia, and shipped the catcher up to Toronto. The trade, not very memorable in its own right, still hit a majority of fans pretty hard. Myself included, fans grew attached to the lovable Kratz. He never put up outstanding numbers, but fans took exception to his big hits and inspiring work ethic.
All that being said, it was quite a sight to see Kratz take part in an event for a team he was sent packing from just a month ago. It just speaks even higher volumes toward the kind of person, and player, Erik was while in red pinstripes.
Domonic Brown has been posting pictures and video from the trip all week long. If you’d like to see these images, follow him on any of the major social media websites.
