Domonic Brown Doubtful To Play “For A While”

Achillies heels have been the Phillies' Achillies heel the last couple seasons.  After Ryan Howard's tear at the last out of the 2011 playoffs, Domonic Brown has his own issues.  Brown's season could be in doubt now after tendonitis has been diagnosed in Brown's Achillies heel.

Yesterday, Todd Zolecki reported:

An MRI has revealed tendinitis in Domonic Brown's right Achilles, and he won't be doing any baseball activities "for a while," he said. "At least a week."

But Brown does expect to play again before the end of the season, which comes on Sept. 29 against the Braves at Turner Field.

Appearing at the All-Star Game with 23 home runs and 67 RBI, Brown has just four home runs and 14 RBI since.  Brown may not crack the 30 home run mark.

Former Phillies manager Charlie Manuel once remarked that he would love to see what Brown can do as long as he can keep him on the field.    The Phillies might not want to count on Darin Ruf for a starting position for next year, just so that he could play in the absence of either Dom Brown, Ryan Howard, or whoever they decide to sign for right field.

Dom said it best himself:

Agreed.
