This move comes two days after Brown told reporter Greg Joyce of the Easton Express-Times that he would be returning to the Phillies on Wednesday.
The outfielder will join the Phillies Wednesday against the Cardinals, he said Sunday after playing his eighth rehab game with the IronPigs.
"I got two more days and then I go back up," Brown said. "(Monday) and Tuesday and then I'll be going up. I'm excited."
After Brown made those comments, Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg didn't sound to convinced about Dom's readiness to join the big league club.
"We haven’t had official conversations about him," Sandberg said before the Phillies took batting practice on Monday. "But, uh, from what I’ve seen, I don’t know that he’s ready for major league pitching, or to come up and really give us some punch with the way things have gone for him there. So, that’s, we’ll have more conversations with tomorrow being his last day on the rehab assignment." [Philly.com Sports]
Brown has hit .189 (10-for-53) in 15 games with the Ironpigs, scoring seven runs, hitting two doubles, a home run and driving in six runs. He struck out 13 times and took six free passes. Brown hit just .235 with 10 home runs and a .634 OPS in 144 games with the Phillies in 2014.
