While the Phillies continue their series with the Mets today in Flushing, NY, Domonic Brown is still trying to fully recover from Achilles tendinitis in his left leg. Brown, expected to take over right field full-time when healthy, has played in four games for Advanced 'A' Clearwater so far, going 3-for-10 at the plate with a home run, two RBI's, four strikeouts and one walk. Yesterday, in the Threshers game in Jupiter, FL, Brown tallied two hits and the lone RBI in their 8-1 loss.
After Brown exited March 19th's Grapefruit League game early, an MRI revealed tendinitis, but no tear in his left Achilles tendon. The Phillies and Brown avoided arbitration this year by agreeing on a $2.6 million salary for the season. He has two more years of arbitration eligibility, but the Phillies could try to trade him or non-tender his contract after the season if he doesn't bounce back from hitting .235/.285/.349 in 2014 with 10 homers and 63 RBI's.
The 27-year-old outfielder has a .248 career average with the Phillies in 1402 at-bats. He's slugged 49 home runs and driven in 204 runs.
