At 4pm today all wheeling and dealing in terms of NFL teams making a trade will cease.
Unlike the NBA, NHL and MLB, the NFL trade deadline comes and goes with a whimper rather than a boom as is the case in the other professional leagues.
That however does not stop the rampant speculation that a team like the Philadelphia Eagles will pull the trigger on a move that falls in line with the mega deal that sent Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2014 first round draft pick.
That is unlikely to happen for a multitude of reasons.
From the first note of music blaring from Chip Kelly's speakers on the first day of minicamp practice in the spring it was apparent that this is a franchise steadfast in the belief that this is a multi-year rebuild and the process is best accomplished through sound drafting.
There is no other explanation for not finding an adequate replacement for wide receiver Jeremy Maclin when he tore his ACL early in training camp, nor Arrelious Benn, and turning to Riley Cooper as the team's second receiver entering the season.
A quick scan across the league yields plenty of names still available to this day such as Hakeem Nicks, Josh Gordon and Kenny Britt. However, both all three would likely come with a price tag of a first or second-round draft choice which the Eagles are unlikely to forfiet, especially with the upcoming quest for a franchise quarterback in the draft.
Sure, the Eagles could move a player like Bryce Brown, Brandon Graham or Vinny Curry by 4pm today but that is not probable to happen.
In all likelihood outside of a minor move to acquire a backup quarterback given the disastrous situation facing that position in recent weeks, general manager Howie Roseman and Tom Gamble will stick to the plan and 4pm will come and go without the Eagles pulling the trigger on a trade.
