The Phillies and Jim Thome figured that getting to be exclusively a designated hitter in the American League would help keep slugger Jim Thome healthy. Unfortunately, it appears that this plan was unable to keep him healthy.
CSN Baltimore reports that Jim Thome is headed for an MRI on his neck. Thome explains his injury in the piece:
“I went home and woke up the next day and did not feel very good at all. To say it could have happened in the game, I don’t know. The next morning, I woke up extremely more sore than I had normally been, and that’s when I told them about it.”
Since the July 1 trade to the Orioles, Thome is hitting .261 with two home rights and eight RBI.
