Early in Saturday's game against the St. Louis Blues, Flyers forward Steve Downie suffered an upper-body injury that forced him out of the game.
The play looked harmless and accidental. Downie and Blues forward Patrik Berglund collided.
To this point, there is no further update on Downie other than his status as day-to-day. The Flyers are still calling this an upper-body injury, despite the fact that Downie's head was impacted on the collision and he suffered a concussion earlier this season.
Still, Downie won't be able to play in the team's next game on Monday. To replace Downie, the Flyers have recalled forward Tye McGinn. McGinn has played in eight games with the Flyers, scoring three goals. He also has 20 goals and 15 assists in 54 games with the Adirondack Phantoms.
Another option for the Flyers was forward Chris VandeVelde. But due to an injury, the Flyers opted to bring McGinn up for the time being.
McGinn will join the Flyers for their Monday night game against the Los Angeles Kings.
