The Eagles made a move at the tight end on Friday, bringing somewhat of a boost to their offense.

Perkins looked ready to break out after a week two where he made four receptions for 57 yards on 33% of snaps, but caught just one pass for 10 yards in 38% of snaps the following week. Since that, he has appeared in only 8.5% of offensive snaps. In an article the other day, I speculated that Perkins should be worried about the Eagles designating Rodgers for return and adding a new tight end to the practice squad. Apparently, he should be more than worried. Perkins is the ninth player on IR and the 11th placed there if you include Rodgers for the first nine weeks and Destiny Vaeao who was waived.
Ronald Darby remains on the active roster. He will most likely be there until Tim Jernigan is ready to return. Practice squad rules require a complete 53-man roster to keep someone as experienced as the newly signed Will Tye on the squad.
Rodgers is certainly an upgrade over Perkins. He played in 63 of his 64 possible games in his first four seasons in the league with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers registered 120 receptions and 1166 yards with 13 touchdowns. He is also expected to be the blocking tight end and should help with the offensive line issues.
