The addition of McDougle, who played eight games for the Eagles last season, points back to Sidney Jones missing time. McDougle is the corner who filled in while Ronald Darby was on injured reserve last season. He did not play much outside special teams, making only two tackles. He is likely to serve as a reserve in case of additional injuries in the secondary over the next few games.
After being a rotational piece for the birds over the last two seasons, Vaeao has been a larger role player this season. After playing around 25% of snaps on the line the last two seasons, Vaeao has played 41% of the snaps this year, including 63% of snaps over the last two games. Destiny had taken a larger role with Tim Jernigan on the non-football injury list and veteran Haloti Ngata being ruled out. Vaeao’s injury is not immediately clear, but leaves the Eagles with only Fletcher Cox, the injured Ngata and Treyvon Hester, who was claimed off waivers a week ago, at defensive tackle. While the Eagles still have Bruce Hector and the newly re-signed Winston Craig on the practice squad, it looks like the birds may look to have Brandon Graham and/or Michael Bennett switch to the inside for a bit each game rather than adding another tackle to the roster.
