On Wednesday afternoon, the Eagles announced they have agreed to terms with wide receiver Chris Givens on a one-year deal.

Givens, 26, spent his first three seasons and part of his fourth with the St. Louis Rams before being traded to the Baltimore Ravens. He has 107 career receptions for 1,779 yards and five touchdowns. His best season came during his rookie year in 2012. With Sam Bradford as his quarterback, Givens had 42 receptions for 698 yards and three touchdowns. He has started in 31 of the 60 games he has been active for during his time in the NFL.
Givens will line up outside. Better than average speed. Real opportunity for him with Eagles to have a significant role.

ESPN's Adam Caplan noted some of what made Givens an attractive option to the Eagles. Given their youth and lack of production on the outside, one had to figure they would bring somebody in, if for no other reason than to provide more competition. That said, it's a bonus that Givens has somewhat of a connection to Bradford and can serve perhaps as a more dependable option on the outside than what the quarterback dealt with last season.
UPDATE 4:08 PM — EST
Mike Garafolo of FoxSports.com has unveiled the financial details of the one-year deal signed by Chris Givens.
WR Chris Givens' one-year deal with the Eagles is for $760k. So if he produces, that's good value.
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 16, 2016
Yeah I forgot to add the signing bonus in. So it's $840k total. The $760k is his base salary. Still under a mil. https://t.co/DgvUyrRHfe

So the Eagles did not have to make a major commitment to Givens if these reported details are true. As Garafolo notes, if the four-year veteran is able to produce more than he has in the last two seasons, he will be a bargain. If not, the team won't be worse for the wear.
