The Eagles are less than 24 hours away from opening their 2019 season, but that doesn’t stop Howie Roseman from being focused on building hiss team.

On Saturday, the team agreed to a restructured deal with receiver Alshon Jeffery, according to Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com.

Jeffery carries a cap hit of $15,975,000 for the 2020 season, and a hit that is the highest on the team in 2019 of just $1,200,000 less.

The restructure reportedly provides the Eagles with some salary cap space, but guarantees his 2020 salary.

Under his previous deal, the Eagles could waive Jeffery and clear more than $9 million in cap space following this season.

It’s currently unclear why the Eagles, who already had $20 million in cap space, decided to make some additional cap space this season, but since cap space carries over each year, there isn’t much of a downside to making the move.

Guaranteeing Jeffery’s 2020 salary and the new deal the Eagles just handed DeSean Jackson would seem to increase the likelihood that 2019 is the end of Nelson Agholor’s tenure with the team as they would seem unlikely to spend big money on three receivers at the same time.
