It appears that Vegas is hopping aboard the Eagles Super Bowl bandwagon, as they now have Philadelphia listed as 10-1 odds to bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the end of the 2015-2016 season.
Vegas lists the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, and Indianapolis Colts as the only teams ahead of the Eagles, who are now favored ahead of the defending champion New England Patriots, and the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos.
The Eagles have made a strong case for their Super Bowl odds by posting a 3-0 record in the preseason while outscoring their opponents, 115 to 53. Their performance Saturday night in Green Bay particularly stuck out, as the Eagles' first-team offense put up 25 points in a dominant first quarter behind Sam Bradford, who completed 10-of-10 passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns. The offense looked unstoppable with Bradford at the helm, and was clicking on all cylinders.
The Eagles' pre-season Super Bowl odds are still favorable despite an up-and-down performance by the first-team defense Saturday night, despite not facing Aaron Rodgers. The first-team defense played the majority of the first half, and allowed 5th-round draft-pick Brett Hundley to complete 10-of-17 passes for 207 yards with a touchdown and interception. The biggest play the defense surrendered was a reception by Ty Montgomery on a short pass where the rookie receiver was able to slip through the Eagles' secondary for a 52-yard gain. The defense also looked vulnerable on a couple of screen pass-plays, and the pass rush struggled to pressure the quarterback, aside from a sack and forced fumble by Cedric Thorton in the second quarter.
Regardless, Vegas sees the Eagles, led by Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense, as the fourth-best team in the NFL, and among the league's elite teams with the regular season just two weeks away.
