Winners of five in a row, the Eagles game against the Bears on December 22nd will now be showcased on NBC's Sunday Night Football.
The Eagles have announced that their game against the Chicago Bears on December 22nd has been flexed to the Sunday Night Football game on NBC.
Originally scheduled for 1pm, the Eagles and Bears will now do battle on Sunday Night Football kicking off at 8:20 pm.
Thanks to Monday night's victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the Chicago Bears are now tied with the Detroit Lions atop the NFC North Standings and the Eagles sit alone at the top of the NFC east standings with a full-game lead over the Cowboys.
This game will certainly have playoff implications both in two division races within the NFC and the wild card, so it's little surprise that NBC would stake claim to this matchup.
Prior to the move, the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens were scheduled for that timeslot, but arguably because of the scope of the matchup and size of the Philadelphia and Chicago markets, the move makes sense on several fronts for NBC.
The Eagles end the season the following week on December 29th against the Dallas Cowboys in a game that could decide the NFC East champion. It's entirely possible that game could be flexed as well since NBC does not currently have a game scheduled for week 17, but can have their pick of any matchup that day.
The showdown with the Bears at Lincoln Financial Field will be the team's first prime time game since week three and third overall this season.
