Eagles Camp 2014: Highlights and happenings from Day 6
The first week of camp is nearly in the books for the Eagles and the progress is showing already.
On Wednesday, the secondary nabbed four interceptions. There were two more on Thursday for the Eagles defense.
Brandon Boykin made his second and DeMeco Ryans joined the party as well.
This was also a day to address the offense as offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur spoke for the first time before practice. Looking to build on a strong 2013 season, he’s noticed improvements already.
“I think the TE group has really improved as a unit,” Shurmur said. “Ertz has probably made the biggest improvement as the youngest guy.
“The two guys who looked the most different when they got here were LeSean McCoy and Matt Barkley. McCoy came into camp in great shape. You can tell he's leaner.”
Here are the rest of the highlights and happenings from Day 6 of Eagles camp:
- A quiet day of camp featured some notables from players lower on the depth chart. Seventh-round pick Beau Allen took reps with the first-team defense. Chris Maragos played first-team safety one day after Earl Wolff took first-team reps.
- Nick Foles hasn’t garnered much attention but he made some pretty impressive back-shoulder passes to the endzone. It looked like Matt Barkley was trying to follow suit too.
- Fifth-round pick Ed Reynolds has been taking a beating from some of the veterans at practice as he matures into the NFL.
- Injury Report: Bennie Logan practiced for the first time during camp. Riley Cooper and Chris Polk remained out as did Julian Vandervelde.
The Eagles practice again at NovaCare Complex on Friday at 11:45 a.m. Chip Kelly will address the media prior to practice.
