With Kansas City's loss to the Patriots on Saturday, the Eagles can make the hiring of Doug Pederson official. That will likely come in another day or so.
In the meantime, since revealing that Pederson was going to be the next head coach, work has already begun on constructing the rest of his coaching staff.
The Eagles were reportedly already working to retain four positional coaches: special teams coordinator Dave Fipp, running back coach Duce Staley, offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and defensive backs coach Cory Undlin.
They have also hired Ken Flajole to an undisclosed position.
FOX Sports reporter Alex Marvez reported that Undlin has been retained and the Eagles also hired Tim Hauck as an assistant defensive backs coach. A report on Football Scoop says that the Eagles will also be retaining Fipp, Staley and Stoutland.
In the meantime, more reports are surfacing about potential coordinators for Doug Pederson. Les Bowen reports Pederson would be interested in hiring Frank Reich to be offensive coordinator. Brad Childress is also in the running, per Bowen's report.
Steve Spagnuolo is also Pederson's top candidate for defensive coordinator, also per Bowen's report.
With all of these names entering the race for Pederson's staff, what happens to Pat Shurmur? While Pederson isn't opposed to keeping him as offensive coordinator, there is also a chance that if Reich joins the Eagles, Shurmur could become quarterback coach to alleviate the Sam Bradford situation. The Eagles will likely need a quarterback coach as Ryan Day is expected to join Chip Kelly in San Francisco.
More on Pederson's coaching staff will become official once he is officially hired by the Eagles.
