With a day remaining until the Eagles need to shrink their roster down form 90 players to 53 players the Eagles parted ways with 16 players on Friday evening.

Only two of the cuts were bubble players in quarterback Matt McGloin and cornerback Aaron Grymes.

McGloin played the bulk of quarterback for the eagles preseason, completing almost 70 percent of his passes but still leaving much to be desired in his play.

With the sample size the Eagles allowed Mcgloin to put on film, it is likely that the Penn State product lands with another team. They also do him a favor by cutting him well ahead of the deadline to give him added time to find a new home.

Grymes spent last season on the practice squad after an impressive preseason. Grymes was given a run in practices with the first team this summer at the nickel when Ron Brooks was dealing with a soft tissue injury. Brooks was cut after the Eagles traded for Ronald Darby and moved Patrick Robinson to the nickel, making Grymes's path to the roster tougher.

The Eagles placed second round cornerback Sidney Jones on the non-football injury list, which will keep him off of the practice field until week six.

The Eagles also agreed to an injury settlement with wide receiver Paul Turner, a standout from last year's training camp who played in for games for the Eagles last season.

The rest of the Eagles cuts included linebackers Don Cherry, Carlos Fields, and Christian Tago, defensive tackles Gabe Wright and Winston Craig, tight ends Anthony Denham and Adam Zaruba, wide receiver Rashard Davis, center/guard Tyler Orlosky, tackle Victor Salako, defensive end Jake Metz, and quarterback Dane Evans.

Cherry is an especially strong candidate for the practice squad after spending last season with the unit. Orlosky was the Eagles most praised undrafted signing and is also a likely candidate for the practice squad.

Three former Eagles were also cut today. Quarterback Matt Barkley was cut from the San Francisco 49ers, linebacker and specialist Bryan Braman was cut from the New Orleans Saints, and the Cleveland Browns cut kicker Cody Parkey, where he lost the kicker battle this offseason.
