The release of two players from the roster of 90 through one preseason game is hardly the first round of cuts that is to come. But it is the beginning of getting the roster down to the final 53.
The process began on Sunday as the Eagles announced they have released both wide receiver Deon Long and offensive guard Malcolm Bunche.
Long was signed just nine days ago on Aug. 5 to bring the roster back to 90. Long had been released by the Los Angeles Rams on July 31.
Bunche was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Eagles after the 2015 NFL Draft. Bunche was among the final round of cuts last season and spent the 2015 season on the practice squad.
The Eagles roster now sits at 88 players.
