Eagles handle Giants, return to 1st in NFC East

The Eagles allowed a touchdown to the Giants on the first drive of the game. And then the defense showed up in a big way.

The Eagles forced three turnovers and rallied back from the 7-0 deficit for 27 unanswered points.

It wasn't even close to pretty for the offense, but the defense ensured an Eagles victory as the Eagles clawed their way back to .500, and into a share of the NFC East lead, with a 27-7 win over the Giants on Monday night at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Giants opened the scoring with an eight-play, 80-yard drive that ended with an Odell Beckham Jr. touchdown reception.

The Eagles responded following a DeMeco Ryans interception with a seven-play drive that was capped off by a 32-yard touchdown pass from Sam Bradford to Riley Cooper.

The next three defensive drives for the Eagles ended with huge plays. Brandon Graham got a key stop on 4th and 1 to force a turnover on downs. On the next Giants possession, Nolan Carroll jumped in front of an Eli Manning pass and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown. The Eagles recovered a fumble on the next drive.

But as the Giants struggled to protect the ball, the Eagles had similar problems. Bradford threw three interceptions in the game, allowing the Giants to hang around.

The Eagles added a Caleb Sturgis field goal from 37 yards to close the half.

The Eagles got another early touchdown to start the second half. An 11-play, 85-yard drive was completed with a 12-yard rushing touchdown by DeMarco Murray.

Sturgis added a 39-yard field goal for the only points of the fourth quarter.
