One of the bigger storylines surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles is the value of Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles. After taking over for Carson Wentz, Foles led the Eagles to their first Super Bowl title in franchise history and will forever be a hero in the city of Philadelphia. Despite Foles' successes en route to a title, it's no surprise that the Eagles' future under center is Carson Wentz. It's still not 100 percent that he's ready week one, but the team expects him to be ready. That begs the question…what does the future hold for Nick Foles? Do they hold on to him in case Wentz isn't 100 percent? Do you trade him and put your faith in Nate Sudfeld if Carson isn't ready?
Well, the Eagles and have already received an offer for him, which SI's Peter King calls 'respectable'.
The Eagles continue to be confident that Carson Wentz will be healthy enough after Dec. 13 knee surgery to play the Sept. 6 NFL opener, and have had at least one respectable (the word I hear to describe it) trade offer for Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles … The Eagles got first- and fourth-round picks for Sam Bradford 17 months ago and feel Foles is better, so it’ll likely take at least that to pique their interest, and that’s likely not happening
Trading Foles would save the Eagles $5.2 million in much needed cap space. If the Eagles truly believe that Carson Wentz will be ready for week one, a Foles trade would seem to be very likely as it would not only save them cap room, but also bring back some draft assets in return.
Trades cannot be announced until the new league year begins on March 14, although we've already heard some trades leak out (Alex Smith, Marcus Peters).
