As the Philadelphia Phillies kick off their 15th season at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday, April 5, against the Miami Marlins, the club will continue many of its home opener traditions, including the U.S. Navy Parachute Team delivering the first balls, Kane Kalas performing the National Anthem and the club's "Leadoff Walk" from the concourse onto the field.
One of the scheduled events that surely is unique to the 2018 home opener, however, is who will be delivering this year's ceremonial first pitch at 3 p.m.: Philadelphia Eagles head coach and Super Bowl LII Super Bowl champion Doug Pederson.
Eleven minutes prior, the club will honor the late Roy Halladay with a tribute video and a moment of silence. Halladay will be inducted onto the Wall of Fame, along with Pat Gillick, on Saturday, August 4.
