Eagles hold off Giants to finish 2015 season at 7-9

The Eagles season finale featured glimpses of what could have been. A meaningless game will do that.

But with Pat Shurmur calling the shots, the Eagles did look like a different team. 

The end result was a 35-30 victory over the Giants to close out the 2015 season at 7-9.

The Eagles opened the scoring quickly in the first as DeMarco Murray powered to a 54-yard touchdown run on the fifth play of the game. 

 
The Giants would kick a field goal, as Josh Brown connected from 22 yards, with 4:07 to play in the first quarter.
 
Darren Sproles added a six-yard touchdown run with under two minutes to play in the quarter give the Eagles a 14-3 lead after one.
 
The Giants would respond with 17 points in the second quarter. Brown added a 30-yard field goal. A nine-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Will Tye cut the Eagles lead to one.
 
The Eagles would get a touchdown on a four-yard pass from Sam Bradford to Jordan Matthews before Rashad Jennings scored on a two-yard run to cut the lead back to one at halftime.
 
The Giants took the lead in the second half on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Manning to Rueben Randle. But the Eagles regained the lead as the Giants were approaching the redzone. Walter Thurmond forced and returned a fumble 82 yards for a touchdown.
 
With 9:19 to go in the fourth, Bradford hit Matthews for his second touchdown of the game, this one from three yards out, to put the Eagles up by eight.
 
Brown added a late field goal from 48 yards, but the Eagles forced a turnover on downs on the Giants final possession to hold on for the win and finish the season at 7-9.
