One more game and then it all counts for real.
But before that, the Eagles will face the Jets in one more preseason game. For many players, this game holds no meaning. Roster spots have been earned and starters won't even see the field. But this game holds a lot of meaning for the borderline players on the bubble, getting one last chance to make an impression and make the team.
Here are six players to watch in Thursday's preseason finale.
Paul Turner – With Chris Givens and Rueben Randle among the first round of cuts, Turner is in the driver's seat for the final wide receiver spot. He'll get some time as a featured receiver in the preseason finale, but it could be his time with the special teams unit that is more important. That's where the receiver will spend the bulk of his playing time this season if he does indeed make the team.
Mychal Kendricks – The Eagles veteran linebacker has had an interesting preseason to say the least. Kendricks finally returned to the field for the Eagles Week 3 game in Indianapolis. In the fourth quarter, when the starters were long gone from the game, Kendricks was still on the field seeing playing time, bringing into question his rank on the depth chart and the safety of his place on the roster.
Steven Means – Speaking of linebackers, Means has turned heads in the preseason. He's easily been one of the more noticeable players in the closing moments of these preseason games when players like Means, an undrafted free agent, look to make an impact and get some attention. His strong preseason could be enough to make the team and he'll get plenty of playing time in the finale to solidify a role.
C.J. Smith – The North Dakota State product looked outmatched against first-team players, but the Eagles confidence to put Smith on the field that early in a game among the starters is a telling sign. Another undrafted free agent, Smith has had some nice moments this preseason as a depth player.
Jaylen Watkins – The 2014 draft pick has put his playing focus more on the safety position. So far, it's been working. Watkins has been a very good player this preseason and could finally get a spot on the roster after starting both of his first two NFL seasons on the practice squad.
Stephen Tulloch – One of the newest Eagles, Tulloch didn't get much playing time last week as he made his return to the field. With many starters getting the night off, Tulloch should get a chance to become accustomed to game speed and situations again, while maybe showing how his familiarity with Jim Schwartz's system plays into his favor.
