The NFL Draft moved from New York to Chicago in 2016 and in 2017, it looks like the destination is Philadelphia.
It was already rumored that Philadelphia was the front-runner to host the 2017 NFL Draft, but now reports have surfaced that the NFL will make an official announcement as soon as next week.
The Eagles currently do not have a first-round pick, which would leave them inactive for the first night of festivities at the NFL Draft unless they acquired a pick.
Philadelphia has hosted large events that attract fans and followers nationwide several times in recent years. In 2014, Wells Fargo Center was home to the NHL Draft. In 2015, the World Meeting of Families and a visit from Pope Francis brought millions to the city. And currently, the Democratic National Convention is taking place at Wells Fargo Center, with setups around the sports complex in South Philly.
This is hardly foreign territory for the City of Brotherly Love, and now it looks like the NFL Draft is the next major event coming to town.
Nick Foles Released by Rams
Former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is looking for a new home after he was released by the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday.
Foles had a standout season with the Eagles in 2013, playing in 13 games and completing 203 of 317 passes — a 64 percent completion rate — for 2,891 yards and 27 touchdowns with just two interceptions, helping lead the Eagles to an NFC East title and playoff appearance with an 8-2 record. He was also named Pro Bowl MVP that season.
But since then, Foles has struggled and it's been a hard fall for the quarterback. In 2014, his last season with the Eagles, Foles played in just eight games and posted a 6-2 record, but his numbers were far from his 2013 production. He finished the season completing 186 of 311 passes for 2,163 yards and 13 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.
Foles was traded to the Rams for Sam Bradford prior to the 2015 season and quickly fell on the depth chart in St. Louis. Foles started 11 games for the Rams, posting a 4-7 record while completing 190 of 337 passes for 2,052 yards and seven touchdowns with 10 interceptions.
The 27-year-old quarterback was drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
