The Eagles secondary has struggled mightily the past few seasons, especially with all the injuries that piled up in 2018.

Already down Cre’Von LeBlanc and Jalen Mills, the Eagles began the season with just four corners. Then Ronald Darby, Sidney Jones and Avonte Maddox all suffered injuries.

The team had to rely on Craig James off of the practice squad and re-sign veteran Orlando Scandrick just to have healthy bodies.

That means that corner is the weakness of the team.

Minkah Fitzpatrick wanted to be traded and many thought the Eagles could land him. Then there’s Xavien Howard and Patrick Peterson, who are top-tier corners on bad teams that could be moved.

And of course, Jalen Ramsey was available. Arguably the best cornerback in the league.

Ramsey was acquired by the Rams for two first-round picks and a fourth-round pick. The fallout in Philadelphia was massive with so many fans immediately wanting Howie Roseman fired.

On Sunday morning, ESPN released a report that Roseman had actually offered a first and a second-round pick for the corner.

When the first weeks of Ramsey asking to be traded came upon the NFL, there were reports that the front office in Jacksonville wanted to accept a big offer but owner Shahid Khan did not want to trade him.

It may be that Khan’s stubbornness netted his franchise better picks and ended up sending Ramsey to LA instead of Philadelphia.

The report also states that the Jaguars offered the Eagles the opportunity to match the offer, but Roseman declined as he needs picks to rebuild one of the oldest rosters in the league while maintaining the team’s ability to be competitive.

You can’t say Howie didn’t try to make the move.
