It seems that the NFL doesn't think the Philadelphia Eagles have much of a chance against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on Dec, 6.
The Eagles laid an egg against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers yesterday, losing by a final score of 45-17. With fived touchdown passes, Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston tied a record for touchdown passes in one game against Philadelphia. Running back Doug Martin ran for 235 yards, which is third all-time against an Eagles defense.
After yesterday's stinker of a performance, the NFL has decided that the Eagles-Patriots game in Week 13 will no longer be America's Game of the Week on FOX.
According to Howard Eskin, the game will still kickoff in Foxborough at 4:25 PM ET, but it will no longer be a nationally televised event.
Instead, the Carolina Panthers–New Orleans Saints game, which was initially scheduled to start at 1:00 PM ET, will now begin at 4:25 PM ET on FOX.
Maybe this will be a good thing for the Eagles. The last time the Eagles played in America's Game of the Week was in Week 2, and the nation witnessed a Philadelphia loss to the Dallas Cowboys by the score of 20-10. The Eagles only gained 226 yard of total offense in that game, and they didn't score any points until the fourth quarter.
Before the game against New England, the Eagles will try to get back in to the win column in a Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Detroit Lions on Thursday.
