The Eagles have received some poor injury news so far in training camp with both Cre’Von LeBlanc and Kamu Grugier-Hill expected to miss time at the start of the season with training camp injuries.
No injury has been more serious than the one defensive end Joe Ostman suffered during the public practice that required he be carted off the field.
As it turns out, Ostman’s knee injury means he will miss a lot of time and possibly the entire season if the injury turns out to be something like a torn ACL, which is not improbable.
On Tuesday, the Eagles placed Ostman on injured reserve.

This comes as a major blow to the Eagles as Ostman had been having a breakout camp and appeared in line to make the 53-man roster. Instead, the team will turn to Josh Sweat, Daeshon Hall and fourth-round pick Shareef Miller to step up and be the fourth and possibly fifth defensive end on the team.
Ostman was on the Eagles practice squad for all of the 2018 season.
To fill Ostman’s spot on the 90-man roster, the Eagles signed veteran defensive end Kasim Edebali.
An undrafted free agent, Edebali signed with the New Orleans Saints following the 2014 NFL Draft and spent three seasons with the team, recording 48 tackles, eight sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, three defensed passes and 10 quarterback hits.
Over the past two seasons, he has spent time with the Broncos, Lions, Bears Rams, Bengals and a second stint with the Saints.
Edebali has a chance to push for a roster spot as a special teamer and decent rotational piece, but over the last two seasons he has appeared in just 14 games and recorded only one tackle.
With the first preseason game just two days away, he will have quite the task attempting to learn a new defensive scheme and impressing the coaching staff enough to keep him over a couple of guys they drafted and a recent third-round pick.
