The Eagles are hoping the Sidney Jones will be back again to play against the Jets this week, but the team is not certain he will be.
If he cannot play, the Eagles would be down to just Rasul Douglas, Craig James and the recently re-signed Orlando Scandrick.
To have a safety net, the team promoted Ryan Lewis, who was just brought in three days ago, from the practice squad.

Lewis brings some previous NFL experience with him, but may not be too familiar with the defensive scheme.
At least one of the trio of James, Scandrick and Lewis is set to make their first start as a Philadelphia Eagles Sunday. There may not be a better time to do that than playing the Jets, who are down to their third-string quarterback, Luke Falk.
To create room for Lewis, the Eagles waived tight end Alex Ellis.
Ellis had not practiced at all this week due to a knee injury.
If he is not picked up off waivers, expect the Eagles to sign him back to the practice squad as he has been excellent blocking for the Eagles in his time on the roster.
His release causes the loss of a safety net, however as the team is left with just two tight ends on the 53-man roster – and Dallas Goedert just got back from an injury.
