Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was named the NFL's Rookie of the Week for Week 5, the team announced Friday afternoon:

Though the Eagles suffered their first loss in Week 4 to the Detroit Lions, with a Wentz pick sealing the defeat, Wentz was 25/33 while throwing for 238 yards and two touchdowns in the game.
As the team noted, Wentz has played in four games this season — the Eagles had their bye in Week 4 — and in three of those games he has played well enough to be named the Pepsi Offensive Rookie of the Week. The team's Week 2 win over the Chicago Bears was the only time that Wentz wasn't voted the Offensive Rookie of the Week in a week that the Eagles have played this year.
Despite another strong performance from Wentz, it's fair to assume that if fans didn't vote for this award he wouldn't have won it. Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott ran for 134 yards on just 15 carries and also had 37 receiving yards in the Cowboys 28-14 Week 5 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, which objectively was a better performance than that of Wentz.
