Howie Roseman and the Eagles had to make some tough cuts on Saturday to get to 53 players on the roster and they ended up cutting players that are good enough to be contributors.
It speaks to a team’s depth when they have players claimed by other teams.
According to Field Yates of ESPN, one of the claimed players was Wendell Smallwood, who will be heading to the Washington Redskins.
The Redskins claimed Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood, per source.

The move means that Eagles fans will see Smallwood week one as the Redskins play in Philadelphia to open the season.
Smallwood provides a capable back to a running back room that has frequently suffered major injuries and has someone missing time almost every week in Washington.
Smallwood had been with the Eagles since 2016.
Though never the feature back, Smallwood is a solid role player and had accumulated 1,238 yards for the team over that tenure.
Though he is a good player to have in the running back room, he was ultimately the fifth player on the Eagles depth chart and he became the victim of the roster crunch.
