On Saturday the Philadelphia Eagles promoted practice squad running back Matthew Tucker to the active roster and ruled Chris Polk out for Sunday's showdown with the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field.
Tucker, an undrafted free agent signed by the Eagles from Texas Christian University will likely dress for his first game of the season this week as the team's third running back behind LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown.
To make room for Tucker the team released seventh round draft choice cornerback Jordan Poyer. Poyer, an Oregon State product, had only been active for one of the last four games.
Just because he was released Saturday does not mean he cannot return to the team. If Poyer clears waivers he is eligibile to return to the Eagles practice squad.
Tucker 25 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason. The 6-foot-1, 230 pound TCU product rushed for 2,602 yards and 33 touchdowns during his four-year collegiate career.
Polk suffered a shoulder injury last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a full participant in Friday's walk through practice according to the team's injury report but listed as questionable.
He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2012 but activated in only seven games as a rookie.
The University of Washington product picked up 36 yards on five carries, including a 28-yard gain and a touchdown against the Denver Broncos, along with two receptions for 19 yards.
In spite of Michael Vick ruling himself out, the team lists Number Seven as questionable along with safety Patrick Chung, but neither has been ruled out.
