Eagles Release Richard Rodgers With Injury Settlement
By Paul Bowman, Sports Talk Philly Editor
Richard Rodgers career with the Eagles has been extremely disappointing.
After the Eagles signed Rodgers to be their third tight end in the 2018 offseason, many expected big things from such an experienced and fairly productive tight end as the third option on the depth chart, but that never came to be.
The veteran was placed on IR to start the season and, although he returned late in the year, barely saw any playing time.
He re-signed with the Eagles on a two-year deal this offseason, and that didn’t go well, either.
Due to a foot injury, the team placed Rodgers on season-ending IR during roster cuts.
Though Rodgers second-year was yet to come, the Eagles announced that they had released the veteran with an injury settlement Wednesday evening.

The move means that Rodgers will most likely not be in training camp with the Eagles in 2020 and may be a bit of a vote of confidence in Joshua Perkins, who the team still has harbored on their practice squad.
