It was no secret the Eagles had too many cooks in the kitchen when it came to the wide receiver position. On Friday morning, they offered some clarity to that position on the roster.
The Eagles announced the signing of quarterback Dane Evans to a three-year deal, and subsequently released wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham.
Green-Beckham, 24, had 36 catches for 392 yards and two touchdowns in his only season with the Eagles in 2016. He was acquired from the Tennessee Titans in a trade that sent offensive lineman Dennis Kelly out of Philadelphia.
'DGB' had a solid rookie season in Tennessee, with 32 catches for 549 yards and four touchdowns, but struggled to find a rhythm or true spot on the Eagles roster. The 2015 second-round pick has played in 31 career games, including 15 with the Eagles in 2016.
As for Evans, the 23-year-old is set to be a rookie in the NFL. At Tulsa, he played four seasons, completing 904 passes for 11,680 yards and 84 touchdowns with 47 interceptions. Evans was previously with the Eagles on a tryout during OTAs.
